Rosamaria D. “Rose” Martinez is a lifelong Elgin resident, decorated U.S. Army veteran and dedicated public servant who is seeking to become the next Mayor of Elgin.

Born and raised in Elgin, Rose has spent her life serving the community she proudly calls home. Her commitment to service began in the United States Army, where she served as a Sergeant and completed three overseas deployments. That same commitment has continued throughout her civilian life through public service, community involvement and local leadership.

Following her military service, Rose built a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 31 years of service. She also served six years in School District U-46’s transportation department. Her experience working directly with residents has given her a deep understanding of the needs and priorities of Elgin families, seniors, veterans and local businesses.

A proud supporter of the veteran community, Rose is a past commander of American Legion Post 57 and currently serves on its Honor and Color Guard. She is also a lifetime member of both the American Legion and VFW Post 1307.

Councilwoman Martinez is currently serving her third term on the Elgin City Council, where she has been a strong advocate for public safety, fiscal responsibility, economic development, and a transparent government. She believes local government should focus on delivering results, strengthening neighborhoods, supporting businesses and improving the quality of life for all residents.

As Elgin prepares for its next chapter of leadership, Rose is running for Mayor with a vision focused on safe neighborhoods, responsible financial stewardship, economic growth and a strong future for generations to come. Part of that vision includes continuing to expand and further develop the Elgin Sports Complex into a premier destination for youth sports, tournaments, families and visitors throughout Northern Illinois.

Rose believes an updated sports complex has the potential to become a major economic driver for Elgin by attracting tournaments, players, families and fans who will support local hotels, restaurants, gas stations, shops and other small businesses. Her long-standing vision is to see the complex become a true sports destination and an economic engine that helps bring new activity, revenue and opportunity to the Elgin Community.

Rose believes Elgin’s greatest strength is its people and is committed to bringing experienced leadership, integrity and a passionate heart to City Hall. She remains dedicated to Elgin while honoring its history and embracing opportunities that will continue to make it a City where families, businesses and neighborhoods can thrive.
